Water and Sanitation Awareness
Khuseleka Water and Sanitation Awareness programme is meant to empower communities through water awareness, youth development, and sustainable change.
Expo 2026
The programme is developed into Two Phases
Phase 1 – AWARENESS EXPO
The event was held on the 25 March 2026 at the JL Zwane Centre in Gugulethu over 250 learners from local primary schools were invited

- Mseki Primary School
- Luzuko Primary School
- Sokhanyo Primary School
- Litha Primary School
The programme was a multi-discipline event as the following departments were invited from the City of Cape Town
- Water and Sanitation
- Urban Waste Management
- Disaster Risk Management
- Law Enforcement
- Human Settlement
The event started with the state of Gugulethu done by Sithembele Ntaba of Lokshin Pioneers.
Mr Mayedwa Phere of Solid Waste addressed the learners about the importance of triple R ReUse, Recycle and Reduce of waste. Bingo the mascot entertained the learners with educational activities and a pledge NOT TO LITTER.
Mr Edmond Tiku from Water and Sanitation Education and awareness expressed the importance of saving water. With Manzi the mascot, learners took the pledge and danced whilst learning about the water Eco-system.
A member from Disaster Risk Management also explained the importance of prevention of disasters. Learners participated in different activities about the types of disasters and how to report them
The day was fun filled with educational games and prizes.
Lokshin Pioneers will now implement Phase 2 of the Khuseleka programme in May.
